It thrives in humid, tropical environments with high annual rainfall, typically between 20 and 35°C (68 and 86°F). While it can be grown in various soil types, it prefers well-drained sandy or clay loam soils with a pH range of 4.5-7.5
Active Ingredient: The active ingredient in turmeric is a natural compound (polyphenol) called curcumin, which has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Uses: A relative of ginger, turmeric comes from the rhizome (root) of a native Asian plant and has been used in cooking for hundreds of years. It has also been used in ayurvedic and other forms of traditional medicine in China and India. Known for adding color, flavor and nutrition to foods.
